If you’re going to a destination location for your vacation, get a room with a fridge and microwave.
Purchase breakfast items and simple ingredients to make your own lunches, allowing you to have more money for eating out in the evening.
Or for suntan lotion.

Yet another great tip.
I won a trip through work to go see a vendor, and with it, we got $100 spending money, a really nice hotel and a Browns/Dolphins game (with pre-game goodies!) I have found the expensive, 4 star hotels charge you for EVERYTHING! It was redicules.
We had a great time, but didnt want to spend alot of money eating out. We walked to WalMart about a mile away and picked up everything we needed to make ham, egg & cheese bagels, OJ, and snacks. This saved us a LOT of money! Instead of spending $20/breakfast, we spent $12 for 4 of them! We had to make the eggs in glasses in the microwave, but hey, it was worth it (and memorable!) Not to mention the cups of soup (hubby ate for dinner), chips with salsa, apples and bananas as snacks.
We paid $1 for a 2-litre of pop for hubby instead of $2.00/bottle from the vending machine in the lobby.

Oooh. Ham, egg, and cheese bagles. Yum.
Great job on saving money on food during your vacation. My wife uses EggBeaters for her breakfast sandwich every morning, which she has to heat up in the microwave. It’s pretty funny to watch as the eggs rise in the bowl, so high that my daughter likes to call it Mount Eggmore. So feel confident that making eggs in the microwave is an acceptable (and fun) way to make a breakfast.
And you are right on track with the 2-liter of soda. Here’s a link to the vid-torial I posted about teaching kids the value of a dollar using Mountain Dew (one of my most popular videos) http://www.moneyplansos.com/teach-kids-the-value-of-a-dollar/
